Shelter Now helps flood victims in Pakistan

August 9, 2010

The situation in the areas of Pakistan devastated by the flooding is desperate. Shelter Now's Udo Stolte set out for the disaster area at short notice to assess the situation for himself and coordinate possible projects.

Local Shelter Now employees have begun handing out plastic bags containing a hot meal to around 1,900 flood victims a day. Udo is totally shocked by the conditions: “People are just squatting by the roadside in their hundreds, many in total desperation. They have lost their homes, land and all their possessions – and their future,” he tells us, “We have to help them!” We hope the German Government will soon provide us with funding, but this is by no means certain. We are dependent on private donations.”

Our current aid project is costing us about 6,000 euros a week. Please support us! We will keep you posted. You can find photos in our press section, and further information and pictures on facebook:
